Three Months of Stalking and Retaliation: How DCFS and GLAD Inc Destroyed My Life and Family

Updated: Oct 31

Introduction

My story is about how a broken system took my children, destroyed my career, and tried to silence me through fear and intimidation. It began in 2017 when the San Bernardino County Department of Children and Family Services removed my children without evidence. In 2018, the case was transferred to Los Angeles County DCFS, and in 2019, the court terminated my parental rights based on lies and false reports.

By 2020, I was being stalked by police in Ventura County, had lost my job at FedEx, and was living in my car for three months. During that time, I continued working as a DoorDash driver to earn income and save money. The harassment became so severe that I had no choice but to move to San Diego for safety.

This was not random. It was a coordinated campaign between Los Angeles County DCFS, GLAD Inc, and LifeSigns, the sign language interpreting company owned by GLAD that held contracts with FedEx.

How It Began

In 2015, my ex wife and I opened our home to a friend named Scott Murphy. At the time, I had no idea that Scott already had an open case with Los Angeles County DCFS. I later learned that people from DCFS were following him and eventually began following me as well.

In February 2016, I met Angela Medina while attending Antelope Valley College. What I did not know then was that DCFS Los Angeles County had intentionally sent people to cross paths with me and pretend to be friends, all to gather information under false pretenses.

In January 2017, my ex wife Vanessa got into trouble after punching a window at the leasing office of our apartment complex. At that moment, our daughter was only four months old and strapped to her mother’s body. When the glass shattered, pieces struck my daughter’s forehead. Vanessa was arrested immediately.

I was not home at the time, but thankfully, I had listed my mother as the emergency contact on our apartment lease. She called me right away, and I rushed home to protect my children. I found out that my daughter had been taken to the hospital, and I picked her up as soon as she was released, bringing her and my sons safely home with me.

Despite everything I did to care for my children, in August 2017, San Bernardino County DCFS removed them from my custody even though there was no abuse or neglect. They acted on false accusations and ignored clear evidence that proved the truth.

By 2018, the case was transferred to Los Angeles County DCFS. I believed the new county would handle things fairly, but instead, the retaliation only grew worse. Social workers ignored evidence, silenced witnesses, and continued to violate my parental rights.

In 2019, the court terminated my parental rights without any credible proof. The decision was built on misleading reports and false testimony. The very agencies that were supposed to protect families ended up destroying mine instead.

Losing My Job and My Stability

While I fought for my children, I worked at FedEx to rebuild my life. My job was secure, and I was proud of my work. But once DCFS learned that I was exposing their misconduct, my employment became a target.

At that time, GLAD Inc (Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness) owned LifeSigns, a sign language interpreting company that provided interpreter services for FedEx and other large companies. Karen Bowman, who worked for Los Angeles County DCFS, also served on GLAD Inc’s Board of Directors.

That relationship created a conflict of interest that allowed DCFS to reach into the private sector through GLAD’s network. Not long after these connections surfaced, I lost my job at FedEx. It was retaliation for telling the truth about DCFS corruption and the wrongful termination of my parental rights.

Homelessness and Police Stalking in Ventura County

After losing my job, I became homeless. For three months, I lived in my car and worked for DoorDash to earn enough money to survive. I parked in safe areas when possible and used my limited savings to rest in hotels when I could.

On July 10, 2020, I checked into the Premier Inns Thousand Oaks at 2434 West Hillcrest Drive in Newbury Park, California. The hotel receipt confirms my stay. That night, Ventura County Sheriff and police vehicles appeared near the hotel and began following me wherever I went.

I noticed the same vehicles parked outside restaurants, gas stations, and shopping centers. They never approached, but their presence was constant. I began recording photos and video as proof. The harassment continued until I realized I could no longer stay in Ventura County. For my safety, I moved to San Diego, where I began rebuilding my life in peace.

The Connection Between DCFS and GLAD Inc

My research confirmed that GLAD Inc and Los Angeles County DCFS were connected through overlapping leadership and shared influence across multiple counties.

GLAD Inc operates in eight to nine Southern California counties, including Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, Kern, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. The organization runs several regional centers and affiliated programs, all listed publicly on their websites:

These sites confirm that GLAD’s network operates directly in Ventura County, where I was stalked by police.

Karen Bowman, who worked for Los Angeles County DCFS while serving on GLAD’s board, created a direct link between the government agency that took my children and the nonprofit that operated in Ventura County. Through LifeSigns, which had contracts with FedEx, this network had the means to interfere with my employment and track my movements.

The Emotional and Human Toll

Losing my children, my job, and my home was devastating. Even while living in my car, I refused to give up. I worked long hours for DoorDash to stay alive and save money.

Every day I faced fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty. I had to watch my back constantly because of the police surveillance. I was not a criminal. I was a father who wanted justice for his children.

The system that was supposed to protect families used its power to destroy one instead.

Why This Matters

This story shows how far corruption can reach when power goes unchecked. When government employees hold positions in private nonprofits that have contracts with major corporations, it allows conflicts of interest and retaliation to flourish.

Families lose their children without evidence. Workers lose their jobs for speaking the truth. People become homeless for standing up against injustice.

This is not child protection. It is an abuse of power that must be exposed.

My Ongoing Fight for Justice

Through my nonprofit, Stolen Children by CPS, I continue to document the truth and speak out for other parents who have been wrongfully targeted. Every photo, record, and document I collected is part of the evidence proving how deep this corruption runs.

I am fighting to hold both DCFS and organizations like GLAD Inc accountable for their actions. My goal is to ensure no other parent experiences what I went through.

Conclusion

My journey began in 2017 when San Bernardino County DCFS took my children. In 2018, Los Angeles County DCFS took over the case. In 2019, the court terminated my parental rights without evidence. In 2020, I lost my job at FedEx, became homeless, worked for DoorDash, was stalked by police in Ventura County, and finally moved to San Diego for safety.

All of this was connected through DCFS, GLAD Inc, and LifeSigns. Their abuse of power destroyed my family, my career, and my peace. But I survived, and I will continue to fight until justice and accountability are restored for every family harmed by this system.
